Fun Fridays
On the first Friday of most months, the entire school community is invited to keep their children on the playground (with parental supervision) after 2:45pm dismissal time until 4:30pm. This provides the families of the school a special opportunity to familiarize themselves with the school's playground and to meet other families that may or may not be in their child's classroom. The Co-Op committee will be responsible for hosting these events, providing water and cups and a fruit or vegetable snack.
Morning Coffees
On the 2nd Thursday of the month after drop-off (approximately 8:45am and some lunch coffees at 11:30am), Shawn or a guest speaker presents a topic of interest to the parent community at large. This event not only allows parents to become more knowledgeable about the Montessori way and our executive director's approach to our community, but also to develop a sense of community and networking with other families. The Co-Op Committee will be responsible for beverages, pastry, fruit and plates/napkins.
Fall Festival
The Fall Festival is a school wide event that has included a potluck, hayrides, and several activities and crafts. The festival is the first all-school event of the year welcoming new and returning families alike. The Co-Op committee will be responsible for coordinating volunteers, potluck sign-up (including plates, napkins, cups and utensils), organizing the donation of beverages, and organizing crafts, activities, entertainment, and hayrides.
Field Day
Field Day for the Elementary students takes place in the morning on a school day in May. It includes several activities encouraging healthy competition and fostering classroom cohesiveness. For the past 2 years, we have used a water theme and it has been very successful and well-liked by students. The Co-Op committee will be responsible for coordinating volunteers, organizing activities, and providing a snack at the end of the event.
Board Meetings
CMS Board Meetings are the third Wednesday of each month at 6:30pm in the Activity Center. All parents are welcome to attend. Please email the to RSVP.
Prospective Parent Coffees
CMS Director Shawn Edwards hosts semi-monthly orientation sessions for prospective parents. These adults-only gatherings provide an opportunity for interested families to tour the grounds, learn about the Montessori Method and ask questions about CMS. International Potluck
The CMS International Potluck takes place the Saturday before Thanksgiving each year. Join us to explore different represented countries and sample their food. Learn interesting facts, see pictures and postcards and listen to their native music. It will truly be a multicultural experience - almost like taking a mini vacation! We give thanks for our similarities and differences. We are citizens of the world!
Oak Tree Fundraiser
Community Montessori hosts the annual Oak Tree Fundraiser each February. Join us for an evening of food, music and a not-to-miss auction! Local vendors and entertainers will be on hand to help us raise money for the Rebecca Lowe Scholarship fund. Click here for more information.
Serendipity Children's Festival
One Saturday each April, CMS hosts the annual Serendipity Children's Festival on the grounds. This event provides an opportunity for the community at large to visit our campus and learn about our school. CMS families host booths and activities ranging from hay-rides to local farm stands.
