Juniper Weekly Newsletter 9/22/23

This week was filled with many golden moments that we in Juniper call our "rosebud". When I reflect from my classroom on Friday after car rider line and reflect on the week and gather my "rosebuds and thorns" I smile at all the moments of growth we shared this week. As Guides we are creating cultures within our classrooms. If we establish a "culture of work," then when children enter, they will adopt the culture, and work as others do. What we must ensure is that we create a culture of well-chosen, productive work:not a culture of little or no work, and certainly not a culture of adult-imposed work. I share with you some of those golden moments and learning curve moments:

*James and Wilder gathered a flock of first year children and gave a lesson in weaving which resulted in many flying yarn balls, tangled yarn, friends rolling around on the ground while others insisted it was too hard and were giving up. One by one they supported friends one on one and when they all got the hang of weaving and exclaimed " I did it! I can do this on my own!" both boys exclaimed "This was harder than we thought!" I am grateful for these two friends rising to support friends and share one of their greatest handworks!

*Freya supported many of our second year children in recording their math work with sage knowledge and wisdom as she bravely shared her math discoveries peppered along with her perseverance to grow strong in her skills! We are so grateful to those who not only share their stories of growth but also leave a legacy of giving to those who need our guidance.

* Emma and Anne-Marie created handwritten cursive cards giving thanks to the admin for their hard work and dedication to Montessori and CMS, then hand delivered them to our staff :)

* Our newest classmate, Shashwath, kept us in laughter with his witty sense of humor and calm manner as he took moments to gauge his new peers and environment. We are so glad he is here :) Thanks to Max for checking in and making our friend feel welcomed as he guided him along.

This weekend at home we ask that you remind our friends to sneeze and cough into their elbows versus into their hands or uncovered. Tissue boxes live throughout the classroom but our friends in Lower El prefer their good 'ol fingers or clothing. HELP! We have a responsibility to keep ourselves and our community healthy and we can start this practice at home. Happy Friday!

Reminders:

* Friday, Sept 29th - Parent's Night Out: 6-10pm (hosted by Nova community)

* Email admin and Guide of illness, early pick up, late arrivals etc

* Drop off medication into the office not in lunchboxes (we are coming up on that season, no cough drops etc)

Sincerely,

Veronica and Sarah
