In our Montessori classroom, we build a sense of community by working together. The children collaborate with their classmates in order to establish a peaceful, orderly, and beautiful environment. We encourage the children to contribute to our environment throughout the day. This gives the children a sense of belonging and purpose. The children along with the adults in the environment take care of the materials, shelves, and our classroom to help maintain a lovely room.  While we are in a gathering, we simply look around the classroom and observe what needs to be organized, cleaned, and beautified. One child might have the task to center the cubes of the pink tower, another child might organize the colored pencils in the language area, and others will be sharpening pencils, straightening the materials on the shelves, folding aprons, wiping the watercolor tray, or restocking paper. All these simple tasks help the children develop a sense of responsibility and care for our environment and the people around them as they become active participants and valuable members of our community. They are practicing how to cooperate, contribute, offer help, and make decisions while feeling capable of making all these valuable contributions.

Please help us keep our snack time very simple by sending fresh fruit or veggies. This is only a quick bite in between breakfast and lunch so let’s keep it simple, quick, and safe for our friends with allergies.

We will celebrate the changes in the seasons and weather in our classroom. Please enjoy costumes, Halloween-themed clothing, and jewelry at home.
