Class pet day was a success and dominated by vertebrates. We will repeat again on Monday with the same expectations, except pets will join us for the afternoon work cycle. Children are consistently writing in their work journals and contributing to clean-up. We are enjoying presentations and singing before lunch, along with Sara K's returned presence in the community. A sample of lessons from this week includes The Timeline of Life, Fundamental Human Needs and parts of plants. Work continues with the checkerboard, decimals and grammar boxes, among other things. This week, children built shelters, shields and lava lamps and wrote stories to add to our classroom library. Today's rain offered us our first indoor recess experience, which was enjoyed by all. This afternoon we talked about why we go to school and children shared answers like learning and meeting people. We dug further into what learning looks like and reviewed our personal freedoms and responsibilities. This week we enjoyed strong leadership from our elders and demonstrated conscientious care of our classroom environment.
