Dear Families,

Welcome back! We had a wonderful, very chill first week (despite the decidedly not-chill temperatures).

Updates

Let's wish a happy birthday to Nyla, who turned two on August 14th!

This week our first new Sunflower joined: Zane Abowd is two years old and is the son of Honeysuckle assistant Laura. Welcome, Abowd family!

Sign-Ups!

Gardening Helper This is a monthly sign-up because our yard doesn't need too much upkeep, just an occasional weeding, sweeping the bike path, etc.

Flower Delivery Each family should plan to bring flowers at least twice this school year.

Lunchbox Heroes

Several families have asked for tips about what to send in their child's lunchbox. While it's important that their meals be balanced (with protein, healthy fats, carbs, you know the drill), the sky's the limit as for what actual items can be packed.

Some recommendations:

  • Leftovers from dinner last night
  • Pasta with meatballs
  • Rice and beans
  • Deli Meat, cheese, and crackers (aka, lunchable)
  • Hummus and veggies
  • When all else fails, a sunbutter sandwich will save the day!

Parents often worry that sending the same thing repeatedly will get boring for their child, but in fact the opposite is often true; toddlers thrive on consistency, and take great joy in seeing their usual favorites waiting for them after a morning of hard work. Don't feel like you need to be super creative in packing their lunches. If you know they enjoy something, there's no shame in sending it every day! Don't overthink it.

We're looking forward to having a great year with you all!

With love,

Krystin, Jessica, and Selena
