Dear Lilac Families,
Another busy week in our classroom. There has been a great focus on maps this week. The younger children have been working with our maps sensorially while learning the names of the continents. The extended day children have been adding a layer to this work by labeling and learning the names of the countries. The North America, South America and Africa maps have been in heavy rotation the last couple of weeks. The children have been enjoying singing our Continent song as well. Our afternoons have been filled with lots of math work. The Subtraction Strip Board has been a favorite work this week. The children have been figuring out all the possible combinations of a number and recording their answers on table paper while learning their subtraction facts. This has been an ongoing work for quite some time and they are making brilliant mathematical connections.
