Good evening! The children enjoyed our first specials with the YMCA and music on Tuesday, and they started writing in their work journals daily. Example lessons this week include fundamental human needs, long multiplication and body functions of animals. Children worked on many creative endeavors, and we had several presentations on stand-by while we locked-in our clean-up and work journal routine. 

This September's grace and courtesy conversations focus on respectful thoughts and actions. This weekend, I invite you to share a meaningful story with your child about an experience in which you chose to respect a person, place or thing, when it wasn't the easiest or most fun option. These personal accounts can have a big impact on young minds, and help them feel validated and inspired to continue sharing and building their best selves.

Announcing Class Pet Day:

This upcoming Monday is our first Class Pet Day in Magnolia. If your child would like to participate, they can bring one "class pet" to school with them and return home with it at the end of the day. Children will keep their "pets" in their cubbies until 10:00 am, when they will take their pets out and give presentations. The pets will go back into cubbies at 11am and stay there for the remainder of the day. Children will bring their class pets home at the end of the day. 

To facilitate a fun and appropriate experience learning about our class pets, children have agreed to the following rules: 1. Don't bring your class pet outside or into the bathroom. 2. Do not play with your class pet 3. Use your class pet for work 4. Ask before touching other people's pets 5. Be respectful

Participation in Class Pet Day is optional and contingent on parent approval. Appropriate examples of class pets include a stuffed bunny or dinosaur figurine. Leave all live animals at home. Children have demonstrated enthusiasm, patience and responsibility following-through on this idea. We are excited to experience our first Class Pet Day on Monday!

Thank you for continuing to send in turtle supplies for Wilbur and Charlotte and healthy lunches for your children!
