Although it was a shorter week, our community had a busy and productive time. We have implemented a check - in system where randomly, few children at a time turn in their math, writing book or the daily work record. If they did the work as expected, their names won't come up for 2-3 days, however if they haven't followed one of those expectations and they don't correct it the next day and days after consistently, we will send a "homework" - unfinished tasks home for the weekend.

The children had a good time practicing soccer drills with coach DJ and music class with Marshall. We had worked on 4 - digit square roots, all operations with negative numbers, squares and cubes of numbers, least common multiples, counting areas and perimeters of objects in the classroom. Some children studied rocks and minerals, heard the story of how life appeared on our planet, researched about food webs in different ecosystems and investigated verbs, adjectives, adverbs, synonyms and analyzed sentences into parts. Our words for this week were: mnemonic, avuncular, respect, extol.

Our hedgehog pet has been officially named Lavender and the children were able to observe her throughout the week, help with food, water and clean wood shavings before taking on a pet care job next week.

We wish you a wonderful weekend,

Redbud Tribe
