What a fun week this was! With beautiful weather we have enjoyed working outside much more and utilizing our outdoor environment.

Among many lessons, we were studying the rivers of our country, the animal kingdom, homophones, areas and perimeters. Some children were learning long division, fractions with different denominators and others squaring a binomial, square roots and cubing. This week one of the groups began the Junior Great Books reading program and everyone else will start next week.

A few of our elders prepared a course for the rest of their classmates to get from the classroom to the CMS oak tree at the field by following the coordinates with a compass. In the meantime our beginning cycles prepared entertaining and challenging games for our "Fun Friday" such as: compound words shadow box, a human poster with compound words, homophones memory game and a crossword puzzle. We were all humbled by the work of those children and encouraged to study in depth various areas of our rich, fascinating and engaging classroom. We just wish we could be the students and not the adults to spend the time on following our interests and expanding our minds each and every day!

The community also presented a Story of the Grammar Country which Rachel recorded and posted on the Redbud Facebook page. We hope you'll enjoy this long term project finally coming to fruition.

Our conferences will take place on Monday and Tuesday. We are thankful that everyone has signed up. This also means our 20 min. time slot per family has to run promptly. Please familiarize yourself with your child's conference report and prepare questions. The reports were already sent to you and additionally you can find them in the Transparent Classroom. If you are coming on Monday, please park by the classroom as space permits, however on Tuesday you must park by the office and we will walk you from there and back to the library where we will be meeting.
