Magnolia Weekly Newsletter 10/27/23

It was a pleasure talking with you at conferences to exchange experiences and perspectives regarding your child. Our community is filled with curious and courageous learners, each guided by their own inner teacher.

Lessons this week included lines, angles, months, hours, flower dissection, tone bars and more. Children wrote about Switzerland, Napoleon, and nature walks. Our table for the International Festival is getting populated with children's work. They constructed miniature ski lifts, a cow slide and flags.

Please send in any Swiss artifacts you're comfortable sharing so the class can study them next week. We would also appreciate decorations like a red tablecloth, battery powered lights, or something else. Feel free to get creative with your child - for example a cow-bell or Swiss-related packaging from chocolate, a Swatch or a Swiss army knife. We appreciate your support of the Switzerland display table.

We hope to see you at the International Festival next Saturday Nov 4th, from 10am-12pm! You can check out the country display tables along with the booksale in the library, Nova's micro-economy booth (digital payment only) and music at 11:00am. Sign up here to help clean-up our table from 12-12:20pm.

In addition to Swiss-related items, Magnolia needs old newspapers, old magazines and blank calendars from prior years for projects like book-making and paper mâché. If you have anything to offer, please send it in with your child!

Also note that children have been instructed to keep all writing instruments and toys at home. We provide writing supplies at school as part of the prepared environment, and permission must be granted in advance to bring in items from outside the classroom. This does not include a personal reading book, Switzerland table artifacts, supplies requested in class emails like this one, and a class pet on Wednesday. If you see additional items coming into school with your child, please confirm that "Inger knows and approved it." This is important because some items from home can be distracting. Feel free to reach out with questions and thanks for your help!
