This week was an exciting one! Students started their stock projects and had a guest come in to introduce them to the topic. They also continued work on math seminars, their English through the Eras projects, and Texas History projects. For Texas History, students researched indigenous people from Texas and made an audio recording about their history or culture. They also did research on an artifact at the Bob Bullock Museum to present to the class during their field trip today. The trip was wonderful and students had fun exploring both the Harry Ransom Center and Bob Bullock museum as well as getting to walk through a small part of UT.

• Friday the 20th afternoon, each group will be watching a movie adaptation or film special that covers a topic similar to their books. A book and movie comparison is part of their common core curriculum. Children have been sent home with consent forms for you to sign. You can also print out your own copy at home here!
• 12 Years a Slave will be watching the movie adaptation.
• The Boy in Striped Pajamas will be watching the movie adaptation. 
• A Long Walk to Water will be watching a PBS special on The Lost Boys of Sudan.
• Plagues and Peoples will be watching the movie Contagion.

• October 23rd: Conference day. Students are off for the day but are highly encouraged to attend their conferences!
• November 17: First Portfolio presentations and Potluck!
